Swollen Gill Disease
Symptoms
Swollen gills are usually caused by ammonia poisoning in water
Fish will scratch against objects and appear listless.
A grayish film may form on the body from low oxygen retention
Rapid breathing in fish; accompanied by gasping at the surface of the water,
Gills undergo severe damage, leading to suffocation and death
Organic treatment of fish
Immediately do a 75% water change (use de-chlorinated water)
Add extra air stones temporarily to the tank
Let the temperature drop to 72 degrees
If gills are too damaged the fish may die

Do a 50% water change (use de-chlorinated water
Add extra air stones temporarily to the tank
